Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for a part-time evening shift in Lake Dallas, TX. This role supports the Clinical Laboratory — Clinical Toxicology department and focuses on high-complexity testing, specimen handling, and result reporting using modern laboratory instrumentation.


Compensation & Shift

  • Pay: $29.50+ per hour (minimum)
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus available for external candidates (per source posting)
  • Shift: Evening — Tuesday through Saturday, approximately 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Eligible for shift differentials (10% for some second-shift hours; 15% for some third-shift hours) where applicable

What You’ll Do

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and recordkeeping.
  • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and verify/release results.
  • Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing is processed like patient specimens.
  • Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and lab safety policies.
  • Troubleshoot and identify issues affecting test performance; correct problems when possible or escalate to senior technologist/supervisor.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s policies whenever test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology preferred). BS in Medical Technology preferred; associate degree in laboratory science or previous qualification under 42 CFR 493 may be considered. Transcripts may be requested.
  • Experience: 1 year clinical laboratory experience with high-complexity testing preferred.
  • Technical skills: Experience with LCMS/ICPMS/GCMS strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: MLS / Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist / CLS credentials are relevant but not explicitly required in the source posting.
  • Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
