What You’ll Do

This entry-level professional role reviews and decides disability claims filed under Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Medically Needy programs. You will be trained on policy, medical review, and vocational evaluation and will:

  • Review medical and non-medical evidence, compile case records, and make documented determinations per Social Security rules and regulations.
  • Manage electronic case files using multiple-screen workflows and type clear case notes and transactional inputs from intake through closure.
  • Perform fact-finding via telephone and written correspondence to obtain necessary medical or vocational documentation.
  • Identify errors or missing evidence and take corrective action to secure complete records.
  • Authorize specialized medical or psychological diagnostic services when required to document impairment severity.
  • Apply rules, policies, and procedures to render formal decisions and ensure timely processing of cases.
  • Communicate effectively with claimants, medical providers, and internal teams to support case resolution.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze medical and vocational data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to learn and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to disability benefits.
  • Detail orientation and critical thinking for fact-finding and problem solving.
  • Basic math and strong organizational skills.
  • Comfort working independently and managing a caseload in a Windows-based computer environment.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with team members and the public.

Qualifications

Preference given to applicants with one of the following or an equivalent combination of education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR
  • Associate’s degree plus two years of relevant experience; OR
  • High school diploma plus four years of relevant experience.

Relevant experience includes:

  • Managing a caseload for insurance, disability, vocational, social work or government programs.
  • Determining initial or continued eligibility of claims based on rules and regulations.
  • Experience working in a medical or vocational field.

No prior medical experience is required — in-depth training and mentoring are provided.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range (provided by client): $41,739.88 - $78,418.23 per year.

  • This role is located in Tallahassee, FL. Employment is subject to background check and/or drug screening, and participation in direct deposit.
