Overview

This Media Coordinator position supports daily newsgathering, media ingest, content distribution, and live production coordination for a Confidential Client's New York-based broadcast and digital news operations. The role is telecommute-eligible and requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and major breaking news events.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist with media ingest operations: digital file conversion, importing content, and transferring media from third-party sources.
  • Prepare and distribute video cuts for affiliates, clients, owned stations, and digital platforms.
  • Draft and format voiceover (VO) scripts for affiliate and client use.
  • Maintain and organize media assets within Pyramid, Extreme Reach, and other media asset management systems.
  • Support live newscast production by coordinating communication between editorial and technical teams.
  • Assign and track editing requests; assist with editing news content as needed.
  • Monitor live feeds and manage content within the news rundown.
  • Provide operational support to field crews; escalate technical or content-related issues appropriately.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure media is accurately processed and delivered on deadline.
  • Other production and media management duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in breaking news, television, digital, or streaming production preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Production Assistant or in an entry-level news production role strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with newsroom workflows and media asset management systems (experience with Pyramid and Extreme Reach is a plus).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams (correspondents, producers, assignment editors, operations, and affiliates).
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during major news events.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience producing live shots and remote broadcasts.
  • Proficiency with video editing platforms and content distribution tools.
  • Knowledge of copyright, content clearance, and usage rights for broadcast and digital media.
  • Experience working with affiliate stations and external news partners.
  • Bilingual language skills are a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, Media Studies, or related field preferred — or equivalent professional experience. Relevant newsroom, broadcast, or digital production experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Location & Work Type

  • Job location: Manhattan, NY (telecommute-eligible). Applicants should be authorized to work in the United States. Schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring range for this position in New York, NY: $62,400 to $83,600 per year (based on a 40-hour work week). The actual base pay offered will consider internal equity, candidate experience, and geography. Additional compensation elements (bonus, long-term incentives) and benefits may apply depending on level and role.
