What You’ll Do

This Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Mechanical Engineering Technician to perform production testing, assembly-level troubleshooting, and final inspection of medical device products (flow cytometers and related systems) at their San Jose, CA facility.

• Perform final instrument optimization after assembly (laser alignment, pressure and electrical adjustments).
• Execute production test procedures and inspections to verify product performance versus specifications.
• Analyze test data and defective-unit results to identify root cause and implement corrections.
• Replace or repair defective components or subassemblies; process required documentation.
• Record and plot test results; generate Device History Record (DHR) and other required manufacturing documentation.
• Troubleshoot at system and subassembly level; escalate complex issues to engineering as needed.
• Collaborate with assemblers, QA, and engineers to improve product quality and production efficiency.
• Support project teams focused on quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle-time reduction, and new product introduction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow EH&S and regulatory procedures.

Qualifications — Minimum

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (required).
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination. Able to reach, bend, and lift up to 35 lbs regularly.
• Experience using digital multimeters (DVMs), oscilloscopes, and general test equipment.
• Proficiency with common office software (Word, Excel); familiarity with Windows or macOS.
• Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and SOPs.
• Basic understanding of statistics, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios and their application in testing and measurement.
• Exposure to ISO 9000 and/or cGMP (21 CFR Part 820) preferred.

Preferred / Desirable

• Experience in medical device manufacturing or a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience testing laser-based optical systems, fluidic systems, and analog/digital circuitry.
• Familiarity with Logic Analyzers and additional bench instruments.
• Strong skills in Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma concepts, or Demand Flow Technology (DFT).

Compensation & Logistics

• Location: San Jose, CA (onsite).
• Employment type: Contract (W2), Full-time (40 hrs/week).
• Duration: 12+ month contract.
• Shift: 1st Shift — Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
• Pay rate: $20–$25 per hour (visible range; final offer within this range).
• Must be able to pass background checks and required regulatory/quality training.
