Role overview
Join a confidential client as a Mechanical Engineering Sales Assistant supporting HVAC product lines. This entry-level, technical-sales support role is ideal for someone with a mechanical engineering background who wants hands-on exposure to HVAC product families, technical take-offs, and customer-facing support in Sayreville, NJ. You’ll support the sales team by translating mechanical drawings into material needs, performing quantitative take-offs, and supplying internal and external technical support.
What You’ll Do
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Learn in depth the HVAC products represented by the confidential client
- Provide technical support to internal colleagues and external customers
- Prepare quantitative take-offs, product orders, and related documentation using standard software tools
- Support sales engineers with product selections, submittals, and proposal preparation
- Track order status and assist with order entry in ERP systems as needed
- Participate in in-house and factory product training sessions
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (four‑year) OR 1–2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings accurately
- Comfortable learning product families and translating technical requirements into solutions
- Proficiency or willingness to learn software tools such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, ordering systems, and ERP (Microsoft Navision preferred)
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work collaboratively with sales and engineering teams
- Customer-focused mindset and willingness to assist both internal and external stakeholders
Preferred (nice-to-have)
- Prior exposure to HVAC equipment, air distribution, fan systems, or air handling units
- Experience with quantitative take-offs or construction submittals

- Estimated annual salary (source): $49,387 (estimated; final offer based on experience)
