What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to join their MEP team in Seattle, WA. In this hands-on role you’ll contribute to design, analysis, and project delivery for vertical building projects while receiving mentorship and training from experienced engineers.
- Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using industry software and established design standards.
- Prepare calculations, specifications, and technical drawings that meet code requirements and firm quality standards.
- Communicate with clients to gather requirements and relay technical information clearly and professionally.
- Support project execution on multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with architects, engineers, and project managers to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and documentation of design decisions.
- Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks and propose practical, efficient solutions with senior engineer collaboration.
- Participate in quality control reviews to ensure designs meet internal and industry standards.
- Stay current with industry trends, energy-efficiency standards (including MEP2050 / AIA2030 principles), and emerging technologies.
- Prioritize safety in all design and field activities and assist with mitigation of identified risks.
- Travel up to 5% for site visits or client meetings when required.
What You’ll Bring
Education
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
Required skills & abilities
- Strong foundation in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics relevant to building systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC load calculation tools and other industry-standard engineering software.
- Basic knowledge of BIM tools and workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with clients and project teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively on multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and participate in professional development.
- Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.

Preferred
- Prior internship or co-op experience with building design or consulting firms.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
State of Washington Salary Range: $75,000 - $79,000 per year.
This range represents the base pay Confidential Client reasonably expects to pay for this role in the identified work location. Actual compensation will be determined by job-related factors such as experience, education, skills, and certifications. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses and employee ownership opportunities.
