What You’ll Do
- Assist in design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using industry tools and HVAC load calculation software
- Prepare detailed designs, specifications, and calculations that meet codes and client requirements
- Support project planning, scheduling, and documentation; monitor project design progress
- Communicate technical information clearly to clients and internal teams
- Analyze low-to-medium complexity engineering tasks and develop solutions with senior engineers
- Participate in quality-control processes to ensure compliance with standards and best practices
- Stay current with industry trends, BIM tools, and emerging technologies
- Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating mechanical-system risks
- Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Foundational knowledge of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics relevant to building systems
- Familiarity with HVAC load calculation tools and other engineering software
- Basic proficiency with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams and a collaborative consulting environment
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to learn
- Willingness to travel up to 5% (occasional overnight stays)
Preferred
- Prior internship or co-op experience in building design or consulting
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and grasp
- Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $75,000 - $78,000 per year
