What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Mechanical Engineering New Graduate to join their Indianapolis, IN office. This in‑office, full‑time role provides hands-on experience in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems (HVAC emphasis) for vertical building projects, with a focus on healthcare and other MEP markets.

  • Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using engineering tools and software
  • Produce detailed designs, specifications, and calculations that meet code requirements and firm standards
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and documentation of design decisions
  • Communicate with clients to gather requirements and clearly explain technical information
  • Work collaboratively on project teams to deliver consulting services within budget and schedule constraints
  • Participate in quality control reviews and ensure solutions meet industry and client standards
  • Stay current with industry trends, energy‑efficient design practices, and emerging technologies
  • Prioritize safety in system design and identify/mitigate potential risks
  • Travel up to 5% for site visits or occasional overnight stays

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of HVAC, thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as applied to building systems
  • Familiarity with HVAC load calculation tools and industry‑standard engineering software
  • Basic experience or familiarity with BIM software
  • Strong technical, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, problem‑solving aptitude, and eagerness to learn
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams

Preferred

  • Prior internship or co‑op experience in building design or consulting
  • Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification

Confidential Client’s local team focuses on MEP consulting with a strong HVAC emphasis across healthcare, recreation, campus, and commercial renovations and new builds. Typical work includes assessments, surveys, design, construction administration, commissioning collaboration, and energy‑efficient system planning. Recent project types include hospital campuses, stadium renovations, recreation centers, and university housing.
