Confidential Client is hiring a Mechanical Engineering New Graduate in Charlotte, NC. This entry-level, full-time role is office-based and provides hands-on experience designing and analyzing HVAC, plumbing, and fire-protection systems for buildings. You’ll join project teams delivering high-performance, energy-efficient MEP solutions across housing, multifamily, commercial, and retail projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in designing and analyzing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems using engineering tools and software
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, develop specifications and basic engineering calculations that meet code and client standards
  • Support project planning, scheduling, documentation, and quality-control activities
  • Communicate with clients to gather requirements and convey technical information professionally
  • Work with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams (architects, project managers) to deliver integrated MEP solutions
  • Participate in internal QA/QC reviews and follow safety best practices
  • Research industry trends and emerging technologies to support energy-efficient design goals (MEP2050/AIA2030)
  • Contribute to innovation and process-improvement efforts using available tools and platforms
  • Help document design decisions, client feedback, and progress tracking

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as applied to HVAC and plumbing systems
  • Familiarity with HVAC load calculation software and industry-standard engineering tools
  • Basic BIM experience (Revit or similar)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and eagerness to learn
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel up to 5% (occasional overnight)

Preferred

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in building design consulting
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification

The team designs MEP systems for commercial, mixed-use, multifamily, retail, hospitality, and restaurant projects across the Southeast. You'll gain exposure to complex developments (mixed-use buildings above retail, structured parking, rooftop HVAC integration, restaurant exhaust systems, and flexible tenant utilities).
