What You’ll Do

  • Perform calculations to ensure safe, economical mechanical designs.
  • Assist with design of process piping systems, including routing, sizing, materials selection, and pipe supports.
  • Design process ductwork systems and develop Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for facility mechanical systems.
  • Evaluate and specify mechanical process systems and support equipment (pumps, HVAC, conveyors, etc.).
  • Review and support development of drawing packages at 60%/95%/IFB/IFC stages and use AutoCAD to develop system drawings.
  • Coordinate material take-offs and prepare Requests for Quotation for equipment, systems, and unitized components.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on power distribution and control panel requirements.
  • Coordinate with fabrication teams on prefabricated and unitized system designs.
  • Support installation and startup activities; domestic and international travel ~10–30% annually.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, fabrication teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, on-budget designs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • Entry-level up to 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • AutoCAD and drafting experience preferred.
  • Experience developing drawings for piping system fabrication preferred.
  • Familiarity with selection/specification of pumps, support equipment, or HVAC equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of piping materials and components and their appropriate applications preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and deliver designs on schedule and within budget.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows–based engineering applications.

  • Base salary range: USD $69,729 — USD $107,537 per year.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work may include exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, noise, and variable weather for short periods; appropriate PPE is required in designated areas.
  • Regular physical activities include walking, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Exposure to moving parts and electrical systems requires strict adherence to safety protocols.

Location & Travel

  • Job location: Superior, CO (postal code 80027).
  • Travel: Approximately 10–30% domestic and international travel to support installation and startup activities.
