What You’ll Do

Support the design, development, and validation of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for the Confidential Client. Work closely with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, R&D) to drive designs from concept through production using engineering best practices.

• Assist with structural and thermal analyses and evaluate test results.
• Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
• Participate in Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Help plan and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to improve product performance and reliability.
• Partner with manufacturing to apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) principles.
• Support root-cause investigations and troubleshooting using APQP methodologies.
• Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and engineering documentation using CAD tools.
• Contribute to technical documentation, product manuals, and engineering reports.
• Participate in continuous improvement, quality, and reliability initiatives.
• Stay current on engineering methods, technologies, and industry trends.

Responsibilities

• Perform CAD modeling and produce detailed engineering drawings (SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred).
• Analyze test data and recommend design improvements.
• Support manufacturing handoff and resolve DFM/DFA issues.
• Participate in cross-functional reviews and engineering change processes.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and configuration control.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet project timelines and quality objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Eagerness to learn and take on new engineering challenges.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Internship, co-op, or early-career mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Exposure to DFMEA, APQP, DOE, DFM, or DFA methodologies.
• Familiarity with ERP or CRM systems (e.g., SAP).
• Experience performing structural or thermal analysis and lab testing.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $34.00 - $47.00 per hour. Individual pay within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
• Contract-to-hire opportunity.

Work Environment & Location

This is a fully onsite, contract-to-hire role based in Savage, MN. The position involves hands-on CAD work, prototype testing, and regular collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and R&D teams in a dynamic engineering environment.
