About the Role

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to join their Energy Solutions / Performance Contracting team in Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for engineers with foundation skills in HVAC design, commissioning, or consulting who want to transition into energy engineering and performance contracting work supporting building efficiency projects from conception through warranty.

What You’ll Do

• Support all phases of performance contracts — from project development and client meetings through design review, construction support, commissioning, and warranty.
• Conduct site visits, audits, and energy calculations to identify savings opportunities.
• Help develop and present project opportunities and proposals to potential clients.
• Review engineering drawings and specifications for constructability and performance.
• Assist with bidding, contract administration, and coordination with construction managers to ensure quality outcomes.
• Commission installed systems to validate performance and work with Measurement & Verification (M&V) specialists to prepare reports.
• Support clients through the warranty phase and contribute to ongoing client relationships.

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience with an energy services company, consulting engineering firm, or commissioning practice (entry-level candidates encouraged).
• Authorized to work in the U.S.; immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.

Compensation & Benefits

• Richmond, VA base salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year.
• This role is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus (eligibility and payout determined by role, individual, and company performance).
• Benefits include 401(k) with company match, employer-provided health/dental/vision coverage, basic life and disability insurance with voluntary buy-up options, flexible time off and company holidays, and reimbursement for business travel per company policy.
