Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role supporting the design, development, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies. This position will contribute to product development, manufacturing support, testing/validation, and engineering change processes. This is a contract, full-time role located in Rancho Cordova, CA. Compensation: $68,000 - $72,000 per year.
What You’ll Do
- Support mechanical design and development of components, assemblies, and systems.
- Apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles to solve routine engineering problems.
- Create and review CAD models and engineering drawings with designers and engineers.
- Perform basic analyses and calculations (strength, load, tolerance, thermal) and assist with simulation or test validation.
- Support bills of materials, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Assist with engineering change evaluation, documentation, and implementation.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve production or test issues.
- Assist with prototype builds, validation testing, and root cause investigations.
- Follow safety, quality, and regulatory requirements and participate in continuous improvement.
- Participate in training, mentoring, and professional development to build technical competence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
- Entry-level: typically 0–2 years of engineering experience; internships, co-ops, or relevant academic projects are valued.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar.
- Basic understanding of materials, mechanics, manufacturing processes, and DFx (design for manufacturability/assembly) concepts.
- Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and document assumptions/results clearly.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and the ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to learn and accept technical guidance from senior engineers.
