What You’ll Do

This contract Mechanical Engineer role supports manufacturing operations at our Confidential Client's Pine View, NC facility. You will deliver hands‑on engineering and manufacturing support to improve equipment reliability, process efficiency, product quality, and production capacity. Typical work includes troubleshooting equipment, developing and standardizing assembly/processes, supporting new product introductions, and participating in capital and continuous improvement projects.

• Support equipment, process, and facility improvements to increase throughput, reliability, and quality
• Diagnose and resolve production and equipment failures; perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Develop and document standardized assembly and manufacturing procedures
• Create and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Specify tooling and equipment requirements; support equipment acquisition and implementation
• Assist with capital planning, feasibility studies, forecasting, and project plans
• Support validation, testing, and documentation of process changes
• Work directly on the manufacturing floor with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement methods to reduce waste and improve performance

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, test, and improve mechanical equipment, tools, processes, and systems
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing equipment, processes, facility systems, and production methods
• Analyze manufacturing requirements and recommend equipment, process, training, and design changes
• Investigate equipment failures and production issues; determine root causes and implement corrective actions
• Prepare feasibility studies, project plans, and implementation recommendations
• Create or update engineering drawings and CAD models for tooling and fixtures
• Support change control, validation activities, and documentation for process changes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, maintenance, safety, logistics, engineering)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) required
• 2–4 years of engineering experience preferred; internships may count toward experience
• Practical experience with mechanical engineering in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical-analysis skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
• Experience with CAD software (Creo, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
• Good written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented and safety-minded
• Comfortable working hands-on alongside production teams on the shop floor

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with Creo, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools
• Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt) or PMP certification
• Prior experience with equipment troubleshooting, process validation, and capital projects
• Project management experience and familiarity with Quality Management Systems
