What You’ll Do
This is a hands-on, manufacturing-focused mechanical engineering opportunity for someone who wants to gain real-world experience with CAD, CNC programming, and machine shop operations. The role is primarily support-oriented and ideal for recent graduates, current engineering students (part-time), or self-taught candidates with CNC experience.
- Support production and shop-floor activities including CNC program review, setup, and troubleshooting
- Assist with CAD model review and basic drawing interpretation to support machining operations
- Create, edit, and validate CNC programs for milling and turning operations
- Help with machine setup and operation (milling, drilling, lathes) under supervision
- Perform basic inspections and verify parts meet drawing requirements
- Work with the team to identify small continuous-improvement opportunities and document changes
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred — equivalent hands-on experience considered
- Current Mechanical Engineering students able to work ~20–30 hours per week are encouraged to apply
- Interest or experience with CAD, machining, CNC programming, or machine shop operations (milling, drilling, lathes)
- Familiarity with HAAS CNC lathes is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn on the job
- Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious; able to work on-site in South Amboy, NJ
Position Details
- Employment type: Contract (part-time and flexible scheduling available)
- Expected assignment length: 6–12 months (contract)
- Typical hours: Flexible — part-time (20–30 hrs/week) or full-time considered; standard shop hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- Work model: 100% on-site in South Amboy, NJ
- Compensation: $25–$32 per hour (based on experience)
