Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer for a part-time contract assignment in South Amboy, NJ. This role is an excellent fit for recent graduates, current mechanical engineering students (able to work ~20–30 hours/week), or candidates with hands-on CNC/machining experience. The assignment is expected to last 6–12 months with flexible scheduling. Initial work will be onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Support CAD modeling and production drawings.
- Assist with CNC programming and machine-shop operations (milling, drilling, lathes).
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot CNC programs; familiarity with HAAS CNC is a plus.
- Perform measurements, inspections and maintain documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve production issues and implement improvements.
- Apply methodical problem-solving and follow safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred — OR equivalent practical, hands-on experience.
- Current Mechanical Engineering students or related-field students available for 20–30 hours/week are encouraged to apply.
- Interest or experience with CAD and CNC programming; HAAS CNC lathe experience is a strong plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work onsite in South Amboy, NJ.
Position Details
- Contract length: 6–12 months (contractor).
- Schedule: Flexible — part-time (20–30 hrs/week) preferred; full-time or supplemental / moonlighting arrangements may be considered.
- Location: On-site in South Amboy, NJ (initially 100% onsite).
- Compensation: $25–$28 per hour.
- Employment type: Contract / Part-time.
