Confidential client is seeking a Mechanical Engineering New Graduate to join their Idaho Falls, ID office. This is an entry-level, in-office MEP/mechanical role focused on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for vertical building projects. What You’ll Do
- Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, producing designs, specifications, and calculations compliant with codes and firm standards.
- Support project execution as a contributing member of multidisciplinary teams, working with senior engineers and consultants.
- Communicate with clients to gather requirements, clarify design intent, and present technical information professionally.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, documentation, and quality-control activities.
- Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks and propose practical solutions.
- Help maintain project records, document design decisions, and track design progress.
- Stay current on industry trends, software tools, and high-performance/energy-efficient design practices (e.g., MEP2050, AIA2030).
- Prioritize safety in design and identify potential system risks.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated building solutions.
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as applied to building systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC load calculation software and other industry-standard engineering tools.
- Basic knowledge of BIM software.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Clear oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate in teams.
- Attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.
Preferred
- Prior internship or co-op experience in building design consulting.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
