What You’ll Do

confidential client is hiring an entry-level Mechanical Engineer (L1) to support mechanical infrastructure for data center facilities. In this role you will:

  • Assist in providing mechanical engineering support for data center facilities and operations.
  • Help design hardware and develop control sequence programming for mechanical equipment controls.
  • Support hardware troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (operations, controls, facilities) to meet reliability and uptime goals.
  • Document engineering work, prepare reports, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Stay current with mechanical engineering and data center industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with CAD design tasks and basic mechanical drawings.
  • Support Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model setup and interpretation for airflow/thermal analysis.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical systems.
  • Support control logic and sequence debugging for HVAC and chilled-water systems.
  • Conduct site visits to data centers as required to validate designs and support commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Internships, co-ops, or hands-on mechanical engineering experience a plus.
  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and exposure to CFD tools is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds and perform occasional on-site tasks.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (~10%) and to work occasional non-standard hours to coordinate with global teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range (U.S.): $84,800 - $117,600. This range is provided to meet pay-transparency requirements for U.S. roles and may vary by location, experience, and qualifications.
  • Remote-work stipend provided to support home-office expenses and mobile device usage.
  • Eligible employees may receive performance-based annual bonuses.

Work Environment & Special Requirements

  • This is primarily a remote role; reliable internet connection and home-office setup are required.
  • Occasional on-site visits to data center facilities — some sites may be under construction and subject to loud environments and safety protocols.
  • Must be available occasionally outside standard business hours, including nights/weekends, to collaborate with global teams.
