Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) — Lakeside, VA
Confidential Client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) — new graduate level — to join their mechanical engineering team in Lakeside, VA. This entry-level role supports design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building systems across government, institutional, and private-sector projects. The role reports to licensed Professional Engineers and offers hands-on experience on project design, field work, and the PE licensure track.
What You’ll Do
- Support mechanical system design (HVAC, plumbing, hydronic systems, ventilation) across project phases.
- Develop mechanical plans, equipment schedules, and technical drawings.
- Perform engineering calculations and apply applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare and review specifications, submittals, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical layouts and system integration with architects and other engineering disciplines (electrical, structural, civil).
- Assist with field investigations, system testing, and construction observation as needed.
- Work under the guidance of licensed PEs and take increasing responsibility as skills develop.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam passed by the start date.
- Revit experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, solid work ethic, and eagerness to learn.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multi-discipline team.
- Eligible to work in the United States and able to obtain a security clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $67,000 - $91,000 per year.
