Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer I to join their Engineering team in New York, NY. This is a full-time contractor role with remote/telecommute flexibility and participation in a structured Engineer Development Training (EDT) program designed to accelerate technical and professional growth.


What You’ll Do

You will support engineering teams to develop MEP designs and documentation across a variety of building projects. Under the guidance of senior staff, you will contribute to designs, produce CAD/BIM drawings, coordinate with other trades, and participate in field visits and project meetings.

  • Create basic mechanical designs under senior direction
  • Learn drawing organization and company CAD/BIM standards
  • Produce CAD and Revit (as applicable) drawings for projects of varying size
  • Coordinate design interfaces with architectural and other engineering disciplines
  • Support design and engineering activities for new installations, retrofits, replacements, and upgrades
  • Ensure work is complete, accurate, and delivered on time
  • Assist with field investigations and construction site visits
  • Attend and participate in the Engineer Development Training (EDT) sessions and related professional development seminars

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is collaborative, coachable, and motivated to grow technical skills in building systems engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university — graduation dates: Winter 2026, Spring 2027, or Summer 2027
  • Previous engineering internship or relevant practical experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with MEP AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus
  • Comfortable using design/calculation software and MS Office Suite
  • E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) or FE certification preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a team environment

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Pay range (New York): $57,392 - $86,220 USD per year (range disclosed per local pay transparency requirements). Final pay will be commensurate with experience, skills, and location.
  • Employment type: Contract / Full time
  • Job location type: TELECOMMUTE (remote options available; candidate must be authorized to work in the US)
