What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer I–II (Thermal) to support R&D and prototyping of advanced vapor chamber and Thermal Ground Plane products. This role splits time between office/design work and hands-on lab/prototyping.

  • Prototype new thermal products — thermal/fluid design, tooling design, fabrication, and test execution
  • Create CAD models and manufacturing drawings; iterate designs with rapid prototyping
  • Design and execute thermal and performance tests; collect and analyze test data
  • Support customer-funded development programs and meet technical milestones and deliverables
  • Work with contract manufacturers and cross-functional teams to transition designs toward production
  • Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly practices; use GD&T for production drawings
  • Troubleshoot prototype builds and recommend design changes based on test results

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
  • Practical CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Strong intuitive and analytical understanding of heat transfer and thermal systems
  • Hands-on experience building and testing prototypes in a lab or shop environment
  • Solid troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and GD&T
  • Good written and verbal communication; ability to document test procedures and results

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with thermal/fluid simulation (CFD) or thermal testing equipment
  • Experience designing tooling or working with contract manufacturers
  • Internship or co-op experience in electronics cooling, consumer electronics, or data center thermal systems
  • Experience with production transfer and working within cross-functional product teams

Work Location & Schedule

  • Location: Longmont, CO — this role requires onsite presence for lab work and prototyping with some office-based activities. The position is not remote.
  • Employment type: Full-time (standard schedule; hours may vary depending on test cycles and project needs)

Compensation

  • Estimated base salary: $45,258 per year (estimated). Final compensation will be determined by Confidential Client based on experience and location and will comply with applicable state and local pay transparency laws.

Why Join

Confidential Client works at the cutting edge of thermal technologies for consumer devices and high-power applications. This role offers early-career engineers the chance to build hands-on prototyping skills, contribute to product R&D, and work on technologies used in smartphones and AI data centers.
