  • Support product development from concept through detailed design, prototype support, manufacturing release, and field implementation.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and analyses (strength of materials, structural loading, machine design, hydraulics interfaces, bolted joints, weldments).
  • Use 3D CAD tools to produce models, assemblies, and design revisions in accordance with design standards.
  • Assist with finite element analysis, hand calculations, tolerance checks, and design validation under senior engineer guidance.
  • Investigate design, manufacturing, assembly, and field issues; document findings and support corrective actions and design improvements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, field service, and operations to improve manufacturability, cost, assembly efficiency, and serviceability.
  • Support selection/specification of materials, fasteners, bearings, bushings, hydraulic interfaces, and fabricated parts.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering change requests, technical reports, test documentation, risk assessments, and verification records.

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, welding symbols, and bills of materials.
  • Basic understanding of fabricated structures, machined components, bolted joints, welded assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and technical communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, field service, and operations.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage assigned tasks with appropriate guidance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Internship, co-op, or project experience with heavy/capital equipment, oilfield equipment, drilling rigs, structural design, or field service support.
  • Exposure to finite element analysis, mechanical simulation, fatigue concepts, or structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems and rotating machinery.
  • Experience with hoisting equipment, pipe handling, structural frames, or drilling rig floor equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding, machining, fabrication, assembly, inspection methods, and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with product data management (PDM), ERP, or engineering change management systems.

Key Competencies

  • Mechanical and machine design fundamentals
  • Structural and mechanical analysis
  • Design for manufacturability and manufacturing support
