The Mechanical Engineer at Confidential Client will support the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems for heavy equipment and powertrain applications. What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join an engineering team supporting the development, validation, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement of heavy equipment, engine, powertrain, and machine systems. This role is hands-on and cross-functional — you will work with engineering, manufacturing, validation, quality, supplier, and operations partners to bring robust products to production.
- Participate in the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems and components used in heavy equipment and powertrain applications.
- Support product development, product improvement, cost reduction, and product health initiatives.
- Research and analyze engineering requirements, specifications, test results, and field issues to develop effective, documented solutions.
- Investigate product, component, and system failures and perform root cause analysis to identify corrective actions.
- Support prototype, pilot, and production builds while working closely with manufacturing and operations teams.
- Collaborate with validation engineers to plan and support testing activities and ensure product performance.
- Develop and evaluate design concepts for fabricated structures, mounting systems, castings, machined components, tube and hose routings, and other mechanical assemblies.
- Support APQP activities and work with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and product quality.
- Create and modify engineering documentation, 3-D models, drawings, and product structures using CAD and related engineering software tools.
- Support factory operations by troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Travel to supplier or customer locations as required (typically up to ~10%).
Who You’ll Work With
You will be embedded with multidisciplinary teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Development, Validation, Purchasing, and Marketing. The role operates onsite at customer facilities and is ideal for engineers who enjoy practical problem solving and supporting production-intent designs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Exposure to manufacturing, operations, parts logistics, quality, or engineering technology.
- Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience, internships, co-op, or hands-on projects/hobbies.
- Solid problem solving skills and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with effective verbal and written communication skills; able to work collaboratively across teams.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience in a production environment working with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or assembly operations.
- Familiarity with APQP, DFMEA, control plans, and supplier quality processes.
- Experience with CAD (3D modeling), engineering documentation systems, or database management.
- Background working on heavy equipment, powertrain components, or related off-highway systems.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 - $95,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
