Role Overview
Our confidential client is hiring an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to join their Energy/Performance Contracting team in Boston, MA. This is an on-site, full-time engineering role focused on energy solutions, HVAC, commissioning, and performance contracting from project development through warranty support.
What You’ll Do
- Support project development: site visits, energy audits, data collection, and energy calculations
- Review engineering drawings and mechanical specifications for performance contract projects
- Assist with proposal development and present project opportunities to clients
- Support bidding, contract administration, and construction coordination to ensure quality outcomes
- Commission installed systems and validate performance against project goals
- Work with Measurement & Verification (M&V) specialists to develop M&V reports
- Participate in client meetings, industry events, and technical presentations
- Provide warranty-phase support and help troubleshoot system performance
What We’re Looking For
- 0–3 years of relevant experience (energy services, consulting engineering, or commissioning preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- Hands-on knowledge or coursework in HVAC design, building systems, and commissioning
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with energy calculations and measurement methods
- Effective written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to clients and stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary project teams
- Desire to grow into energy engineering and performance contracting roles
- Management, construction, auditing, and consulting experience are a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary (Boston, MA): $75,000 - $90,000 per year
- Eligible for an annual performance-based bonus (determined by role, individual and company performance)
- 401(k) with company match (current match: dollar-for-dollar up to 4%); immediate vesting
