Responsibilities

This role supports design, compliance, prototyping, testing, and production support for custom laboratory and electromechanical products. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Interface with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) such as Intertek, TUV, and UL to provide documentation and support for product testing and certification.
  • Create and edit wiring diagrams using Microsoft Visio or similar tools.
  • Maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and related technical documentation.
  • Design test procedures and conduct product and component testing; document and report results.
  • Troubleshoot electronics, wiring, and mechanical subsystems.
  • Program and tune controllers for temperature, gas concentration, and vacuum control.
  • Perform NIST-traceable calibration of temperature sensors and controllers.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical modeling.
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting for electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to create, read, and revise wiring diagrams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical). A 2-year Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology may be considered.
  • Familiarity with national, regional, and international standards for laboratory equipment (training can be provided if needed).
  • Experience with industrial controllers (temperature controllers, microcontrollers) and sensors (gas, vacuum, temperature).
  • Knowledge of solenoid valves, pumps, fans, power supplies, and refrigeration systems.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills.
  • 6–12+ months of relevant experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment (internship, MECOP, capstone project, or similar).

Job Type & Location

  • Contract-to-hire (consultant-to-hire).
  • Employment type: Contract / Full-time.
  • Location: Fully onsite in Beaverton, OR.

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay: $33.65 per hour.
  • Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
