Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Mechanical Drafter / Designer to support a major filtration-system project. This role focuses on Revit layout drafting, 3D modeling, and producing build-ready mechanical and structural fabrication drawings. The position is onsite in Minneapolis, MN and is suited to a self-starter with strong attention to detail and practical CAD experience.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed mechanical layout drawings for filtration and process equipment systems.
- Develop 3D models and mechanical designs using SolidWorks, Revit, and related CAD tools.
- Produce fabrication drawings, structural drawings, and assembly blueprints that are accurate and build-ready.
- Translate engineering concepts into clear, producible drafting and design documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and production personnel to refine layouts and meet project specifications.
- Update and revise drawings and models to reflect design changes and field feedback.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and internal best practices.
- Maintain organized drawing files, version control, and project documentation.
- Occasionally visit the production or facility floor to validate layout feasibility.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on mechanical drafting experience, preferably for industrial or process systems.
- Strong proficiency in Revit for layout drafting (3+ years recommended).
- Practical experience with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD systems.
- Proven ability to create and interpret fabrication drawings, structural details, and assembly blueprints.
- Strong understanding of mechanical structures and industrial components.
- Self-starter who can manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in drawings and documentation.
- Effective communication skills for working with engineers, designers, and operations staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, drafting, or related field preferred — candidates without a degree who demonstrate strong drafting skills will be considered.
- Open to entry-level candidates who have a solid foundation in Revit and mechanical drafting.
- Interest in filtration systems, industrial facilities, or process-related mechanical design is a plus.
- Motivation to grow professionally and take on increased responsibility.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based (cubicle/desk) working with CAD and Revit models; occasional on-floor visits to production/facility areas are required to verify layouts and gather measurements.
- Collaborative engineering and design environment working on a technically interesting, large-scale project.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour. Actual pay will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
