Role overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Mechanical Drafter / Designer (Contract) to support a major industrial filtration system project. This hands-on role focuses on Revit-based layout drafting, 3D modeling, and producing build-ready fabrication and structural drawings. The position is fully onsite in Minneapolis, KS and offers exposure to a technically significant program with opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed mechanical layout drawings for filtration and process systems.
- Develop 3D models and mechanical designs using Revit and SolidWorks.
- Produce fabrication drawings, structural drawings, and assembly blueprints that are accurate and build-ready.
- Translate engineering concepts into clear drafting and design documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to refine layouts and ensure alignment with specifications and standards.
- Update drawings and models based on feedback, design changes, and field conditions.
- Ensure drafting work complies with applicable codes, standards, and internal practices.
- Maintain organized drawing files and documentation to support project tracking and future reference.
- Occasionally visit the facility/production floor to verify layout feasibility and gather site information.
What we’re looking for (must-haves)
- Strong proficiency in layout drafting using Revit — minimum 3 years experience.
- At least 3 years of mechanical drafting experience for industrial or mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling (SolidWorks or similar).
- Ability to create and interpret fabrication drawings, structural drawings, and blueprints.
- Solid understanding of mechanical structures and industrial components.
- Self-starter who can manage drafting tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drawings and documentation.
- Good communication skills for working with engineers, designers, and floor personnel.
Preferred / Additional qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical design, drafting, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Interest or prior experience with filtration systems or process-related mechanical design.
- Motivation to grow professionally and take on increasing responsibility.
Work environment & location
- This is a fully onsite, contract role based in Minneapolis, KS.
- Primary work in an office/cubicle setting working with CAD and Revit; occasional time on the facility/production floor for measurements and verification.
Compensation & benefits
- Pay range: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour. Actual pay within this range will be based on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
