Responsibilities

The Mechanical Designer will support the mechanical engineering team in fulfilling customer orders by creating detailed 2D and 3D models, preparing documentation, and collaborating with engineers to deliver accurate, manufacturable designs.

• Support the mechanical engineering team throughout order fulfillment by contributing to component and assembly designs.
• Create accurate 2D and 3D models using NX and other CAD tools.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for assigned projects.
• Coordinate with engineers to complete full project design packages and documentation.
• Calculate dimensioning and tolerances to ensure manufacturability and proper fit.
• Review drawings and packages for accuracy and compliance with internal standards.
• Perform material selection according to project requirements and performance criteria.
• Assist with basic project tracking and planning tasks to help meet delivery timelines.

Essential Qualifications

• 0–2 years of mechanical design experience; strong co-op, internship, or academic project experience accepted.
• Hands-on experience with 2D and 3D CAD modeling.
• Proficiency with NX modeling software (or equivalent CAD systems).
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
• Attention to detail when preparing drawings, models, and BOMs.
• Good communication and collaboration skills for working within engineering teams.

Preferred / Additional Skills

• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Exposure to project management concepts and task tracking.
• Experience with rotating or moving equipment (mechanical drives, rotating machinery).
• Knowledge of ANSYS or similar simulation tools for mechanical analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills and practical troubleshooting ability.

Work Environment

• Training: fully on-site Monday–Friday for an initial two-week training period.
• Ongoing schedule: hybrid — typically four remote days and one on-site day per week (on-site day often scheduled on Thursdays).
• Collaborative, project-focused engineering environment using NX and other CAD systems.

• Contract to Hire position based in Cincinnati, IN (hybrid).

Pay & Benefits

• Pay range: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour.
• Actual pay within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
