What You’ll Do

Join a Confidential Client R&D / manufacturing team where you’ll spend time both in engineering CAD work and on the shop floor bringing prototypes to life. This is a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer role focused on prototyping, tooling, and machining validation.

  • Design parts, assemblies, molds, and tooling using 3D CAD.
  • Create CAM programs and generate advanced toolpaths for 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining.
  • Engineer molds and tooling: determine material choices and blank sizes (aluminum blocks, composite tooling boards, etc.).
  • Design and build custom fixtures to support machining and assembly processes.
  • Optimize machining processes — tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and cycle-time improvements.
  • Inspect and verify finished parts with precision metrology tools to ensure they meet customer specifications.
  • Produce clear technical documentation: setup sheets, engineering drawings, and revision-controlled design packages.
  • Maintain shop safety, cleanliness, and tooling organization; take ownership of shop assets and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related technical degree required. Recent graduates with strong projects or internship experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (examples: SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360).
  • Practical knowledge of CAM/CNC manufacturing principles and experience generating CNC programs.
  • Experience or strong aptitude for prototyping, fixture design, and mold/tooling engineering.
  • Familiarity with inspection and metrology tools and practices.
  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills; ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Solid mathematical and geometric reasoning for tolerance stack-ups and print interpretation.
  • Physical requirements: regular use of hands for prototyping and workstation tasks; ability to stand and move on the production floor; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Commitment to shop safety and organized work practices.

Compensation & Worksite

  • Employment type: FULL_TIME and CONTRACTOR (per role posting).
  • Estimated salary (source): $74,592 per year (estimated).
  • Worksite: On-site in Racine, PA — mix of engineering office and active manufacturing / R&D shop-floor work.
  • This role is with a Confidential Client in the Engineering industry.
