Role & Compensation

Confidential Client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC) based in Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid).

• Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 per year
• Employment type: Full-time, Permanent
• Schedule: Hybrid — typically 3 days/week in the office; periodic travel for site visits

What You’ll Do

You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team contributing to the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical and HVAC systems for technically complex buildings (healthcare, labs, research, higher education, corporate, and technology facilities). Typical responsibilities include:

• Design and develop HVAC and mechanical building systems for new construction and renovation projects
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents that comply with codes and client requirements
• Perform load calculations, system evaluations, energy analysis, and cost comparisons to guide design decisions
• Assist with building energy modeling and system performance simulations
• Support construction administration: review installations, conduct field observations, and verify compliance with design intent
• Conduct field surveys and site investigations and prepare site-visit reports
• Develop project specifications and Statements of Special Inspections for assigned projects
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams across all project phases

Who You Are / Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building infrastructure
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
• Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with engineering analysis software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prepare clear technical documentation and construction drawings
• Strong communication and organizational skills and ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer via internships, co-ops, or full-time roles
• Experience with energy modeling or building performance simulation tools
• Exposure to healthcare, laboratory, research, higher education, corporate, or technology facility projects
• Familiarity with construction administration and field observation processes
