What You’ll Do

This role supports the Underbody Design team to develop automotive body structures and components that meet performance, styling, manufacturing, cost, and safety targets. You will work with cross-functional groups and suppliers to bring parts from concept into production.

• Create and manage 3D models, component layouts, and detailed 2D engineering drawings using CATIA (≈30%).
• Collaborate with design teams, test engineers, styling, manufacturing, purchasing and other stakeholders to align requirements and deliverables (≈30%).
• Lead supplier part development activities: set targets, review supplier progress, and confirm quality, cost, performance and timing goals (≈20%).
• Support component and vehicle verification: analyze test results and develop corrective actions (≈10%).
• Estimate and monitor part cost, weight and investment; review and evaluate supplier quotations (≈10%).
• Research and propose material and process solutions (steel, aluminum, plastics, composites; stamping, injection molding, casting, extrusion).

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience. Recent graduates with internship, co-op, or project experience are encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency with CATIA and creating detailed 3D models and production drawings.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals (structures, materials, manufacturing processes).
• Good written and verbal communication; experience working with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to estimate part cost/weight and assess supplier quotations.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute to future product concepts.

Nice to have:

• Experience with automotive underbody or body-in-white components.
• Familiarity with supplier development and component testing protocols.

Working Conditions & Location

• Workstyle: 100% Onsite at the Auto Development Center in Marysville, OH.
• Shift: 1st shift.
• Majority of work performed in an office environment with some time in test labs, fabrication and manufacturing areas.
• Expect occasional overtime (~5–10 hours/week as needed) and some domestic and limited international travel.
• Employment type: Permanent, Full time.

Compensation

• Estimated pay (reported): $113,916 per year — estimated. Actual compensation will be determined by the Confidential Client and may vary based on experience and location.
