What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Design Engineer to support ongoing product improvements and convert customer requirements into technical product offerings for powered industrial trucks and related equipment. This is a hands-on design role working closely with manufacturing, production, purchasing and product management.

  • Identify opportunities to improve product functionality and reduce cost across the existing truck portfolio
  • Design custom engineered solutions to meet specific customer requirements and applications
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), detailed drawings, and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Support production teams with technical questions and resolve manufacturing issues
  • Ensure designs meet cost targets, technical requirements and applicable standards
  • Communicate effectively with product management, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality, and production
  • Collaborate across departments and with multinational colleagues

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Experience with 3D solid modeling and producing detailed engineering drawings (Unigraphics NX preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems; ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Understanding of welded-structure design and related symbols
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles
  • Ability to interpret industry standards and procedures (familiarity with ITSDF, UL, ISO a plus)
  • Experience creating and maintaining BOMs within an MRP/ERP system (SAP preferred)
  • Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intercultural awareness and ability to work with multinational teams

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) preferred

Location

This position is based in Lincolnville, SC. Local reporting and on-site collaboration with manufacturing/production teams may be required.
