About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an entry‑level Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC) to join a small, collaborative MEP team. This is a hybrid role based in Champaign, IL that combines office/remote work with regular site visits. You’ll contribute to HVAC system design, equipment selection, and construction documentation from day one — ideal for early‑career engineers who want hands‑on project experience.
Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems for a variety of building types (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related mechanical systems)
- Perform load calculations and select equipment
- Produce construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD
- Edit specifications, review shop drawings, and respond to RFIs
- Coordinate across MEP disciplines with engineers and design staff
- Conduct site surveys and field verification (typically 2–4 times per month)
- Apply and stay current with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IECC)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong spatial and systems thinking ability
- Comfortable learning new software tools (Revit, AutoCAD, load‑calc tools)
- Responsible, organized, and able to manage assigned tasks independently
- Clear and collaborative communicator
- Interest in building a long‑term career in HVAC design
Preferred (Helpful but Not Required)
- Relevant internship or work experience in HVAC or MEP design
- Familiarity with HAP, Trace 700, or similar load calculation software
- EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure
- Proficiency or aptitude in Revit and AutoCAD
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $65,000–$75,000 (commensurate with experience)
