Role Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical products and systems. This is an onsite, full-time role based in Chillicothe, IL. The position will work at a customer engineering and manufacturing facility and offers a full benefits package and professional growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and engineering drawings; create and update engineering documentation and product structures.
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test mechanical tools, machines, engines, and related devices.
- Review customer specifications, proposals, and manuals to assess feasibility, time, and cost.
- Investigate equipment, product, and component failures; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Support prototype, pilot, and production builds and collaborate closely with manufacturing, validation, and operations teams.
- Develop and evaluate design concepts for fabricated structures, mounting systems, castings, machined parts, tube and hose routings, and related mechanical systems.
- Participate in continuous product improvement, quality improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with mechanical design, product development, and engineering problem-solving.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawing creation (Creo preferred).
- Experience analyzing product/component failures and conducting root cause analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and test results.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with engineering, manufacturing, and validation teams.
- Ability and willingness to support hands-on prototype and production builds.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment working with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with fabrication, assembly, or manufacturing operations.
- Database management experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 - $95,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
