Compensation (California pay transparency)

Estimated base pay: $87,587 per year (estimated). Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications and location-specific rules.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare fabrication drawings, shop drawings, assembly drawings and installation details for industrial equipment, structural supports, platforms, piping, ducting and related systems.
• Develop 2D facility layouts and 3D models showing equipment locations, access requirements, utilities and field interfaces.
• Create, review and modify DWG, DXF, STEP and other common CAD file formats for internal production and outside vendors.
• Produce part drawings, cut files, bills of materials, material takeoffs and drawing packages for shop use.
• Perform field measurements and document existing equipment, structures and facility conditions when required.
• Coordinate drawing details directly with engineers, project managers, welders, fabricators and installers.
• Revise drawings in response to shop feedback, field conditions, customer comments and approved design changes.
• Check dimensions, clearances, interfaces, drawing references and revision status before drawings are released.
• Maintain organized drawing files, project folders, templates, naming conventions and revision records.
• Support estimating and project planning by preparing concept layouts, quantities and preliminary drawing information.

Required Qualifications

• Working proficiency in AutoCAD or comparable 2D CAD software.
• Ability to read and produce mechanical, fabrication and general arrangement drawings.
• Strong attention to dimensional accuracy: dimensions, tolerances, scales and drawing standards.
• Understanding of common fabrication processes including cutting, forming, welding and assembly.
• Clear communication skills for coordinating with shop and field personnel and incorporating practical feedback.
• Strong file organization and revision-control practices.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certificate or bachelor’s degree in drafting, mechanical design, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or another parametric 3D modeling platform.
• Experience preparing drawings for metal fabrication, industrial equipment or manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with sheet metal, structural steel, piping, ducting, equipment skids or machine assemblies.
• Experience creating CNC-ready DXF files for laser, plasma or other cutting processes.
• Exposure to field verification, as-built drawings or industrial facility layouts.

Education & Experience

This is an entry-level to early-career position. An engineering degree is preferred but not required. Our client will consider candidates with relevant technical education, a strong CAD portfolio or practical fabrication experience. Candidates with approximately 0–3 years of applicable experience are encouraged to apply.

Work Environment

This role is based in an engineering and fabrication environment and requires regular coordination with the shop. The employee may occasionally visit active industrial facilities to obtain measurements, verify existing conditions or support project coordination. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and site-specific safety requirements will apply.
