Overview
Confidential Client is hiring for Master-at-Arms (Security & Law Enforcement) positions based in West New York, NJ. Master-at-Arms personnel deliver core security, antiterrorism, and law enforcement capabilities to protect people, installations, ships, and strategic assets at home and abroad. This role suits entry-level candidates as well as those with prior law enforcement, corrections, or security experience (direct-entry paygrades may apply based on experience).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct antiterrorism and force-protection patrols on installations and piers
- Staff sentry and access-control posts; manage entry to secure areas
- Perform vehicle, personnel, and baggage inspections for weapons, contraband, and unauthorized items
- Enforce traffic and parking regulations; respond to calls for service; investigate incidents and traffic accidents
- Collect, preserve evidence, and prepare reports and case files
- Provide crowd control and law-enforcement presence during events and emergencies
- Operate and maintain small arms, crew-served weapons, non-lethal weapons, security vehicles, and boats
- Support harbor/waterside security, high-value escorts, and expeditionary security missions
- Supervise and train junior security personnel in watchstanding, weapons handling, and security procedures
What to Expect
- Fast-paced, armed, safety-critical work requiring attention to detail, professional judgment, and strong communication
- Rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) to provide 24/7 coverage
- Exposure to stressful incidents and emergency response situations
- Ongoing weapons, tactical, and fitness qualifications and requalification
- Progression to specialized billets (patrol supervisor, watch commander, kennel master, investigator) with experience and qualifications
Work Environment
- Assignments at installations in the U.S. and overseas, aboard ships (including carriers), and with expeditionary security units
- Primary work locations: bases, piers, flight lines, patrol vehicles, kennels, armories, and security operations centers
- Opportunities for overseas and forward-deployed tours; close integration with other security forces and investigative partners
Training & Advancement
- Recruit training followed by Master-at-Arms “A” School for law enforcement fundamentals, weapons handling, and security ops
- On-the-job qualification through Personnel Qualification Standards and watchstations
- Advanced training paths: Military Working Dog Handler, Harbor Security Coxswain, Corrections Specialist, Small Arms Instructor, Crew-Served Weapons Instructor, Protective Service Specialist, Criminal Investigator, and leadership/warfare qualifications
Qualifications
Required and typical qualifications include:
- Eligibility to serve under current U.S. military enlistment standards (citizenship/residency requirements apply per policy)
- High school diploma or equivalent for enlisted roles (officer roles require a bachelor’s or equivalent)
- Age, medical, vision, dental, and physical fitness standards per program and Navy policy
- Satisfactory character and background screening; eligibility for security clearance where required
- Ability to qualify with firearms and to perform armed law-enforcement duties
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, deploy, and accept sea/overseas assignments as required
