Overview
Confidential Client is seeking candidates for the Master-at-Arms (Security & Law Enforcement) role. This uniformed position provides core security, antiterrorism, and law enforcement capability to protect people, installations, ships, and strategic assets at home and abroad. Candidates may qualify for direct-entry consideration at advanced enlisted paygrades based on prior law enforcement, corrections, or security experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct antiterrorism and force-protection patrols on installations, piers, and other assigned areas
- Stand sentry, staff access control posts, and control entry to secure areas
- Perform vehicle, personnel, and baggage inspections to detect weapons, contraband, or unauthorized items
- Enforce traffic and parking regulations; respond to calls for service and investigate incidents and accidents
- Collect, preserve, and document evidence; prepare reports and case files
- Provide law enforcement presence, crowd control, and security during events and emergencies
- Operate and maintain small arms, crew-served weapons, non-lethal weapons, and security vehicles or boats
- Support harbor and waterside security, high-value escorts, and expeditionary security missions
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior security personnel in watchstanding, weapons handling, and security procedures

- Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays to provide 24/7 coverage
- Exposure to stressful and emergency situations requiring calm decision-making and strong communication skills
- Ongoing weapons qualification, use-of-force training, tactical skills, and physical fitness standards
- Opportunities to advance into specialized billets such as patrol supervisor, watch commander, kennel master, or investigator
Work Environment & Assignments
- Assignments at U.S. and overseas installations, aboard ships (including aircraft carriers), and with expeditionary security units
- Primary worksites include bases, piers, flight lines, patrol vehicles, kennels, armories, and security operations centers
- Opportunities for overseas and forward-deployed tours; some tours may be dependent-restricted or count as sea duty
- Close collaboration with other security forces, Marine units, NCIS, and joint or host-nation partners as required by the billet
Pathways, Training & Advancement
- Recruit training followed by Master-at-Arms “A” School for fundamental law enforcement, weapons handling, and security operations
- On-the-job qualification through Personnel Qualification Standards, watchstations, and unit training
- Advanced schools and Navy Enlisted Classifications (e.g., Military Working Dog Handler, Harbor Security Coxswain, Corrections Specialist, Small Arms Instructor, Crew-Served Weapons Instructor, Protective Service Specialist, Criminal Investigator) may be available depending on assignment and eligibility
- Career development through leadership courses, warfare qualifications, and senior enlisted leader programs
Qualifications
- Eligibility to serve in the United States Navy per current law and policy (citizenship / residency and other requirements may apply)
- Meet enlistment medical, vision, dental, body composition, and physical fitness standards appropriate to the rating
- High school diploma or equivalent for enlisted programs (officer programs require a bachelor’s degree)
- Pass required enlistment or commissioning tests (e.g., ASVAB or officer qualification exams) and background screening
- Ability to obtain a security clearance when required for the billet
- Strong moral character and clean legal history appropriate for armed law enforcement duties
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, deploy, and accept sea duty or overseas assignments as required
Note: This position requires military service.
Education, Pay & Benefits
- Education benefits through Tuition Assistance, Post-9/11 GI Bill, ACE-recommended college credit for training, Navy COOL certifications, USMAP apprenticeships, and other Navy education programs as applicable
- Pay, benefits, and service obligations follow standard Active and/or Reserve Navy policies and depend on component, rank, years of service, and current law/policy
- Estimated annual pay (per source): $72,372 per year — confirm current pay scales, entitlements, and incentives with an official recruiter
