Overview

Confidential Client is seeking candidates for a Security & Law Enforcement (Master-at-Arms) role. This uniformed, armed position provides core force protection, physical security, and law enforcement support for installations, ships, and strategic assets. The role is open to entry-level applicants and those with prior law enforcement, corrections, or security experience — qualified prior practitioners may be eligible for advanced entry paygrades.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct antiterrorism and force-protection patrols on installations, piers, and areas of operation
  • Staff sentry and access-control posts; perform vehicle, personnel, and baggage inspections
  • Enforce traffic and parking regulations; respond to calls for service and investigate incidents
  • Collect and preserve evidence; prepare reports and case files
  • Provide law-enforcement presence, crowd control, and emergency response support
  • Operate and maintain small arms, crew-served weapons, non-lethal tools, and security vehicles/boats
  • Support harbor/waterside security, high-value escorts, and expeditionary security missions
  • Supervise and train junior security personnel in watchstanding, weapons handling, and security procedures

What to Expect

This is a fast-paced, safety-critical role requiring professionalism, sound judgment, and attention to detail. Expect rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) to maintain 24/7 coverage; exposure to stressful or emergency situations; ongoing weapons and use-of-force qualification; and progressive responsibility as you advance into supervisory or specialized billets (e.g., patrol supervisor, investigator, kennel master).


Work Environment

Assignments may include installations in the U.S. and overseas, ships at sea, and expeditionary units. Work locations can include bases, piers, flight lines, patrol boats, kennels, armories, and security operations centers. Close coordination with other security and investigative partners is common.


Pathways, Training & Advancement

  • Recruit training followed by Master-at-Arms “A” School (basic law enforcement, weapons handling, antiterrorism, patrol procedures)
  • On-the-job qualification through personnel qualification standards and watchstations
  • Advanced schools and Navy Enlisted Classifications (examples): Military Working Dog Handler, Kennel Master, Harbor Security Coxswain, Corrections Specialist, Small Arms Instructor, Crew-Served Weapons Instructor, Protective Service Specialist, Criminal Investigator
  • Career development through leadership courses, warfare qualifications, and senior enlisted leader programs

Qualifications

Candidates must meet standard enlistment or commissioning requirements, which typically include:

  • Eligibility to serve under U.S. military enlistment rules (citizenship or lawful status varies by program)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (enlisted); a bachelor’s or qualifying professional degree for officer pathways where applicable
  • Age limits, medical, vision, dental, body composition, and physical fitness standards per policy
  • Character and conduct standards, including background screening and potential security-clearance eligibility
  • Required aptitude/test scores (e.g., ASVAB or officer qualification tests) as applicable

Additional preferred qualifications include prior law-enforcement or corrections experience, weapons familiarity, investigative skills, and demonstrated physical fitness.
