What You’ll Do
The Manufacturing Technician I supports high‑throughput production of consumables, kits, and reagents in a lab-based manufacturing environment. You will help meet production schedules by preparing coated plates, buffers, diluents, reagents, and assembled kits while following SOPs and safety protocols.
- Operate automated equipment to produce biological assays, reagents, and kits according to procedures and schedules
- Prepare and process materials: aliquoting, vialing, labeling, and coated‑plate prep
- Complete accurate documentation (batch records, logbooks, forms, data capture) for all production activities
- Perform routine equipment checks and daily maintenance; report and document maintenance activities
- Maintain lab cleanliness, organize supplies, and support inventory control (including year‑end physical inventory)
- Apply aseptic technique and good laboratory practices to protect product quality and integrity
- Support custom/prototype manufacturing requests and contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Occasionally handle BSL2 reagents following all safety and handling protocols
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment; laboratory or life‑sciences experience preferred
- Proficient pipetting skills and familiarity with reagent and buffer preparation
- Ability to learn and operate automated lab/manufacturing equipment after training
- Strong organizational skills and experience with inventory control and operations coordination
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and data capture
- Commitment to following SOPs, PPE use, and lab safety procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering, or related field preferred
Additional Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience with manufacturing consumables, kits, or reagents
- Exposure to process improvement, assay development, or manufacturing tech transfer
- Experience gained through school labs, internships, or entry-level industry roles working with pipettes and basic lab techniques
- Interest in building a long-term career in laboratory manufacturing with advancement potential
Work Environment & Schedule
This is an onsite, lab-based manufacturing role in Rockville, CT. The operation uses an extended‑day model rather than traditional rotating shifts: typical opening shifts start at 5:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m., with a closing shift starting around 8:00 a.m. Schedules are posted weekly; new hires receive structured hands‑on training with schedule details provided by supervisors. The environment emphasizes collaboration, safety, and a structured training program.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $20.00 - $21.63 per hour (hourly rate depends on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors)
- Employment type: Contract-to-hire; fully onsite in Rockville, CT
