Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Weekend Shift Manufacturing Engineer (Manufacturing Engineer 1) to support production and post-production activities at a Savannah, GA facility. This role works under moderate supervision to author manufacturing work instructions, support planning improvements, perform production studies, and apply Lean/Six Sigma methods to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Perform technical studies and analyze existing or proposed operations to recommend equipment, tooling and optimal manufacturing methods.
- Develop detailed sequence-of-operations and assembly methodology for complex assemblies and components.
- Author manufacturing work instructions and DRDI/DMT rework instructions to drive zero-defect outcomes.
- Create and maintain MBOMs in SAP/Solumina/Corridor (as applicable) to ensure correct part installation and process alignment.
- Conduct producibility studies from engineering drawings and support make-or-buy analyses.
- Apply statistical methods and generate manufacturing data/reports to estimate requirements and identify improvement opportunities.
- Incorporate Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ergonomics into processes; participate as a team member or leader on improvement projects.
- Support Safety, Sustainability, and Business Continuity initiatives.
- Travel as needed (up to 25%) and work the designated weekend day shift schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Entry-level / Manufacturing Engineer 1 experience level.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, apply shop math, and follow engineering configuration requirements.
- Proficiency with personal computers and common software tools (MS Office).
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CATIA or SolidWorks (3D CAD) preferred.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP/MRP systems, and authoring MBOMs preferred.
- Experience creating MS Power BI metrics and dashboards preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles. Lean Specialist certification or higher is a plus.
- Familiarity with CADAM, production tooling, quality control processes, and plant safety practices.
