Role Summary
This is an on-site Manufacturing Engineer position based in Puyallup, WA. Careertakes is recruiting on behalf of a confidential client in the manufacturing / engineering sector (garage door and building products). The Manufacturing Engineer will support, standardize, and improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and production operations to boost safety, quality, throughput, and cost-efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes and work instructions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives (waste reduction, process optimization, workflow improvements).
- Analyze production data, cycle times, capacity, and process performance to pinpoint improvement opportunities.
- Support new product introductions and implement new/modified processes.
- Evaluate equipment, tooling, and fixtures; recommend and implement improvements.
- Support production trials, equipment installations, and process validations.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Work hands-on in the production area and provide technical support to manufacturing teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field — equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Frontier) preferred.
- Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Frequent trips into production areas; must be able to safely maneuver through manufacturing areas and occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, or lift materials.
- Travel expected to be less than 20%.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $76,000 – $86,000 per year (depending on experience and level).
