Position Overview
Confidential Client (Engineering) is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Engineer to support night-shift operations at an on-site facility in Mount Vernon, IN. This role acts as the engineering point-of-contact for night-shift production: troubleshooting process issues, coordinating with operations/quality/program management, and driving practical improvements on the shop floor. Candidates should be hands-on, safety-minded, and able to work collaboratively across shifts.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary engineering coordinator for manufacturing, tooling, and continuous improvement activities during your assigned shift.
- Maintain a regular presence on the shop floor to troubleshoot delays, stoppages, and engineering-related questions.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with night-shift production teams and stakeholders.
- Escalate issues to the appropriate day-shift or program leads when necessary and ensure timely handoff communication.
- Liaise between program management, operations, quality, and lead manufacturing engineers on shift-related issues.
- Participate in safety or quality response/investigation teams as the Engineering & Technical Services representative for the shift.
- Work with manufacturing engineering peers to standardize work instructions across product lines.
- Maintain awareness of contract and drawing requirements to support dispositioning of quality notifications.
- Complete special assignments and improvement projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Nuclear, Manufacturing), or Physics.
- Able to obtain and maintain DOE-related security eligibility (ability to obtain required security clearance is a must for this role).
- Willingness and ability to train on first (day) shift for up to 6 months if required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
Schedule & Location
- On-site in Mount Vernon, Indiana.
- Night shift schedule (examples): 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM or 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM, Monday–Thursday, after a training period on day shift when required.
