Position summary
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Engineer I to support manufacturing process development, assembly operations, documentation, and quality compliance across inert electromechanical assemblies and energetic solid rocket motor manufacturing. This role is hands-on and includes regular travel between Folsom, CA and Reno, NV.
What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is looking for an early-career manufacturing engineer to help develop and document robust production processes and support assembly and manufacturing activities across inert electromechanical and energetic SRM operations.
- Support manufacturing process development for inert electromechanical assemblies and energetic SRM manufacturing under senior engineering direction
- Develop and maintain work instructions, assembly travelers, process specifications, and manufacturing documentation
- Participate in DFM&A reviews, production readiness reviews, and milestone activities, raising manufacturability issues
- Support tooling activities including requirements capture, receiving inspection, and maintenance documentation
- Monitor process variables, collect and summarize manufacturing data, and escalate deviations from process control points
- Contribute to root cause and corrective action investigations and continuous improvement projects
- Maintain configuration management and document traceability, working with quality engineering to meet applicable quality requirements
- Provide hands-on support at Folsom and Reno sites while developing technical competency across both inert electromechanical and energetic manufacturing processes
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
- 0–2 years of manufacturing engineering experience, internship, or co-op experience; new graduates encouraged to apply
- Foundational understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical assembly operations, and precision hardware
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply basic GD&T principles
- Experience producing clear technical documentation such as work instructions and process summaries
- Familiarity with CAD viewers (SolidWorks, CREO, or equivalent) and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Positive, cooperative, and professional approach with a willingness to support program objectives
- Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or project experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing, especially exposure to propulsion, solid rocket motor manufacturing, or energetic materials
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001, lean manufacturing principles, and root cause tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, or 8D
Travel, physical & security requirements
- Travel approximately 20–30%, primarily between Folsom, CA and Reno, NV
- Willingness and ability to work in secure or classified environments as required
- Comfortable working in hands-on manufacturing environments and near energetic materials under strict safety protocols
- To comply with U.S. government export regulations (ITAR/EAR), applicants must be U.S. Persons and eligible for any required export authorizations
Compensation & Benefits
- Good faith base salary range: 65,000 - 85,000 USD per year (base pay only; final offer depends on experience and skills). California pay range reflected.
