Role Summary

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Engineer to support diesel engine production at their Kansas City, MO facility. This role provides hands-on technical support for assembly, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives across locomotive and non‑locomotive heavy equipment builds.

Estimated compensation: $63,948 per year (estimated).


What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the site point of contact for assembly and testing of medium‑speed diesel engines and related components.
  • Act as the interface between responsible engineers, manufacturing, and product definition teams.
  • Coordinate testing and disposition of component changes; capture and track manufacturing‑requested changes during builds.
  • Update manufacturing documentation (drawings and manufacturing instructions) and lead issuance of change requests to product definition.
  • Support non‑locomotive system builds, including marine and stationary power applications, as needed.
  • Lead and coordinate manufacturing initiatives focused on cost savings, productivity, quality, and reliability.
  • Work daily with shop floor teams and assemblers to drive efficiency and safety improvements.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering (or equivalent technical experience).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools such as NX or SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of technical drawings, GD&T tolerancing, and stack‑up analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of gas or diesel engines is a plus.
  • Motivated, practical problem‑solver with strong interpersonal skills.
