Position overview
Our confidential client is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Engineer (Night Shift) to act as the primary engineering liaison within manufacturing operations. In this on-site role you will work directly with night-shift production teams to resolve stoppages, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure timely communication of engineering issues across shifts.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary engineering contact and coordinator for manufacturing engineering, tooling engineering, and continuous improvement on the assigned night shift.
- Maintain a regular presence on the shop floor to diagnose and help resolve delays, stoppages, and engineering-related questions.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with night-shift stakeholders and operations leadership.
- Escalate issues to the appropriate stakeholders and ensure day-shift engineers are informed of overnight events using timely communication methods.
- Act as the Engineering & Technical Services representative for any safety or quality incident responses occurring on your shift.
- Liaise between program management, operations, quality, and lead manufacturing engineers on shift-specific issues.
- Work with manufacturing engineering peers to standardize work instructions and processes across product lines.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of contract and drawing requirements to support dispositioning of quality notifications.
- Complete special assignments as needed to support plant performance and compliance.
Minimum qualifications
- BQ - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Nuclear, Manufacturing Engineering Technology) or Physics.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (required).
- Willingness to train on first shift for up to 6 months, then transition to assigned night shift schedule.
- Demonstrated written and verbal professional communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail.
- U.S. citizenship is required (this role supports federal contracts and clearance requirements).
Preferred qualifications
- PQ - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with SAP.
Schedule & location
- On-site in Mount Vernon, IN.
- Typical work schedules after training: either 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM or 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM, Monday–Thursday (schedule depends on assignment).
Compensation & benefits
- Pay: $70,000 - $103,000 per year (range for Indiana; final offer will consider experience, skills, and other job-relevant factors).
