Role overview

This is an entry-level Manufacturing Controls Engineer I opportunity supporting a Confidential Client in the Engineering industry. The role provides electrical and controls engineering support for manufacturing equipment, automation, and equipment qualification within a medical-device manufacturing environment. You will work closely with senior engineers, maintenance, quality, and operations to troubleshoot equipment, support validation activities, and deliver continuous improvement projects.

What You’ll Do

• Learn and apply engineering standards, procedures, and best practices for manufacturing automation systems.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
• Assist with troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, robotics, and related automation technologies.
• Read and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Support equipment qualification and validation activities (FATs, SATs, IQ/OQ/PQ) and maintain software backups and change records.
• Participate in root-cause analysis, DFMEA/PFMEA, machine risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, and OEE.
• Support equipment design reviews, vendor requirements, installations, commissioning, and supplier interactions (occasional travel up to ~5%).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair support for production machinery and control systems.
• Execute and document equipment tests, software saves/loads, and control logic checks under guidance.
• Maintain and update equipment BOMs, component lists, and electrical drawings.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, and suppliers.
• Contribute to small automation projects and reliability improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering, or related discipline required.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience; internships, co-ops, senior projects, or lab experience welcome.
• Basic understanding of electrical and controls engineering principles and ability to read electrical schematics.
• Exposure to PLC programming, HMI development, robotics, or vision systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or electrical design tools is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective verbal/written communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering field required.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience; relevant internships/co-ops or senior design projects considered.
• For degrees earned outside the U.S., documentation meeting 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required where applicable.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range (U.S., excl. PR): $69,600 – $104,400 per year.
• Eligible for short-term incentive plan (where applicable).
