Role Overview
This Manager Trainee position trains entry-level leaders to manage small driver teams and non-traditional shifts (including nights/weekends). You will learn load assignment, routing, DOT compliance, driver management, yard operations, basic P&L review, and customer-facing reporting to support safe, on-time freight movement for a confidential client in Windsor Locks, CT.
What You’ll Do
- Learn to build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to support onboarding and ongoing productivity
- Support day-to-day fleet operations, including load assignment, routing, and monitoring freight movement
- Be trained on DOT and company compliance; help ensure drivers meet regulatory and safety requirements
- Assist with personnel management tasks: training, orientation, payroll support, driver counseling, and documentation
- Help manage yard operations and coordinate preventative maintenance with maintenance teams
- Support financial and reporting tasks: invoicing, basic P&L review, Net-Revenue budget assistance, and customer-specific reporting
- Fill in for colleagues and take part in projects to improve fleet efficiency and profitability
- Respond to service issues, ETA changes, mechanical problems, and accessorial pay questions as they arise (may include on-call responsibilities)
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field — OR — High School diploma/GED plus at least 1 year of relevant experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management), or equivalent military experience
- Willingness to work multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) as needed
- Willingness to travel to customer/account locations and regionally relocate based on account assignment when applicable
- This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship

- Comfortable analyzing situations and making informed decisions

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $51,719.85–$63,000 per year. Actual pay will depend on experience, skills, education, geography, and other qualifications.
- May be eligible for annual bonus/incentives subject to the company’s plans and performance.
