Role Overview

This Manager Trainee role is an entry-level management position in logistics and supply chain operations. You will be trained to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends), ensure safe and timely freight movement, assign loads, support DOT compliance, and deliver high-quality customer service. This is a hands-on, rotational training role with opportunities to work across fleet operations, yard management, and administrative functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers for carrier set-up and retention
  • Support daily planning, routing, and monitoring of freight to provide safe, on-time delivery
  • Assign loads, manage freight exceptions, and adjust driver ETAs based on schedules and road conditions
  • Train and orient drivers and staff; support use of internal and customer systems
  • Assist with payroll, invoicing, Net-Revenue budget management, and basic P&L analysis
  • Participate in driver counseling, accident reviews, documentation, and resolving pay or accessorial issues
  • Support yard operations: inspect equipment, coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance with maintenance teams
  • Maintain and promote company safety culture (daily safety messages, briefings, training) and help enforce DOT and company policies
  • Fill in for absent personnel and contribute to special projects aimed at optimizing fleet performance and profitability
  • Prepare and present customer-specific reporting and operational analysis as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year of relevant experience (management, transportation/logistics, account management, business administration) or equivalent military experience
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends as required
  • Willingness to travel to customer, account, and company events when applicable
  • Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment

  • Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions
  • Adaptability in changing operational environments
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to present operational and financial information
  • Proactive problem-solving skills for operational or process issues

  • Compensation may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. This role may be eligible for bonuses or incentives tied to profitability or volume.
