Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Manager Trainee to join their Supply Chain team in Upper Marlboro, MD. This is a full-time position focused on developing the skills needed to manage a small driver pool, non-traditional shifts, fleet operations, and DOT compliance while delivering excellent customer service.
What You’ll Do
- Learn to manage driver assignments, route planning, and freight movement to deliver safe, on-time service.
- Support day-to-day fleet operations, including non-traditional shifts (nights and weekends).
- Ensure driver and equipment compliance with DOT and company safety policies.
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams.
- Assist with administrative tasks: payroll support, driver counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and operational reporting.
- Support yard and equipment management—coordinate maintenance, inspect equipment, and help schedule preventative maintenance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives: monitor KPIs, create customer-specific reports, and recommend operational improvements.
- Fill in for absent personnel and participate in special projects to optimize fleet profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight to meet customer requirements and manage exceptions.
- Train and orient drivers and staff on internal and customer systems.
- Support inventory, asset management, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
- Assist with Net-Revenue budget management and basic financial analysis (P&L review, invoicing).
- Execute daily safety communications, monthly briefings, quarterly training, and annual reviews to maintain the Company’s safety culture.
- Respond to service issues, mechanical problems, accessorial pay questions, and other operational incidents as they occur.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of relevant experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience).
- Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company events when applicable.
- Ability to work across multiple shifts (including nights and weekends) as needed.
- Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.
- This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits
- Expected starting pay range: $53,000–$66,200 per year. Starting pay depends on skills, education, experience, geography, and qualifications.
- May be eligible for annual bonuses and incentives based on profitability or volume.

Work Location & Hours
- Location: Upper Marlboro, MD (Prince George’s County).
- Full-time role with shift flexibility; may include nights, weekends, and on-call responsibilities depending on account needs.
