What You’ll Do
Under general supervision you will be trained to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends) to ensure safe, timely movement of freight and excellent customer service. This entry-level management role focuses on learning fleet operations, DOT compliance, load assignment, and driver/customer communications while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to support new carrier setup and ongoing productivity.
- Cover for absent personnel and support special projects that optimize fleet operations and profitability.
- Train and orient drivers and staff, including assisting with internal and customer systems.
- Monitor, assign, plan, route, and track freight movement to meet customer requirements and provide on-time service.
- Assist with administrative duties: payroll, net-revenue budget tasks, driver counseling, accident reviews, resolving pay issues, invoicing, and operational/financial reporting.
- Support yard management: inspect equipment, coordinate maintenance and repairs, and help maintain safety-related mechanical standards.
- Support the company’s safety culture through driver briefings, training, and enforcement of DOT and company policies.
- Help analyze performance (KPIs), recommend operational improvements, and prepare/present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
- Work with drivers, customers, and internal teams to resolve service, routing, mechanical and accessorial issues as they occur (including on-call duties when required).
Qualifications
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in a degree program (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Willingness to work multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) and travel to customer/account locations as needed.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or Bachelor’s plus one year of related experience/training.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (expected starting pay): $46,200 - $69,300 per year.
- Compensation may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications.
- Eligible for annual bonus and incentives per company plans (where applicable).
- Benefits for full-time employees may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, paid time off (vacation & sick leave), paid parental leave, and paid holidays, subject to eligibility.
Work Environment
- Role is based in Tracy, CA (onsite responsibilities with occasional travel to customer locations).
- Work may include non-traditional hours and on-call periods to support operations.
